Heriot-Watt University shooting scholar, Seonaid McIntosh, has become World Champion at the ISSF World Championships in South Korea.

The electrical and electronic engineering student followed up her two Commonwealth medals from the Gold Coast with a fantastic display, including a perfect 10.9 in her final effort, to win gold in the 50m Prone Rifle event with a total of 623.3 points. As well as her individual title, McIntosh also won bronze in the 50m Prone Rifle team event with sister, and former Winning Student, Jen and Zoe Bruce.

McIntosh said: “I don’t think I’m quite aware of what it is I’ve done yet.

“Winning a team medal helped me because I wasn’t so nervous today, plus I learned from my match yesterday to allow me to put in a better performance today.

“It was a tough competition. I just tried to work on making today’s performance better than yesterday’s and didn’t really think about the outcome.”
