Orienteering Scholarships

Orienteers are nominated for a scholarship by British Orienteering Performance Manager, Jackie Newton.

To be considered for selection, orienteers must meet one of the following:

• Selected to train within the British Orienteering Centre of Excellence at the University of Edinburgh, and; Have the potential to achieve a top twenty position in the Junior World Championships or represent Great Britain at the World Championships within the next year
• Selected to train within the British Orienteering Centre of Excellence at the University of Edinburgh, and; have the potential to achieve a top twenty position in the Junior World Championships or transition from junior to senior British international within the next 2 - 3 years
• Podium Potential at World Championships within the next year

The number of places is determined by the size of the award available to the sport and, should the applications outweigh the scholarships available, places will be awarded in accordance with the above prioritised list of criteria.

British Orienteering has until 30 September to submit nominations for the following year. For further details of the nomination and selection process, please contact Paul Murgatroyd.

Application Timeline

    Individual Scholarship applications are open in February and close in April each year. Applications for the 2018-19 academic year are now closed.

    All nominated athletes complete and return their paperwork by end of September.

    Core sport and Individual Scholarship athletes are announced each October.

    Support runs from October until the following June.
